The National Centre for Cell Science (NCCS) is an autonomous institution of Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, for a mandate of basic research, teaching & training, and as a national repository for cell lines/hybridomas etc. The Centre is located in the midst of academically enriched environment of Savitribai Phule Pune University Campus, Pune. NCCS invites applications for following posts on various extramural projects purely on temporary basis.
Post I
Name of the Post – Junior Research Fellow

Name of the Project – Proteogenomics-based identification and characterization of a novel ITGB8 isoform in ovarian cancer and elucidation of its functional relevance.

Essential Qualification & Experience –
Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science OR Graduate / Post Graduate Degree in Professional
Course selected through a process described through any one of the following.
A. Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and/or GATE.
B. The selection process through National Level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER etc.
Desirable Experience – Molecular Biology (PCR, cloning), cell biology (cell culture, cell-based assays, immune-staining) and/or bioinformatics.
Total Monthly Emoluments – Rs. 31,000 + HRA

Name of the Project – Characterization of Pseudogene-like CTs in Ovarian Cancer.

Age Limit – Not more than 35 years as of the last date of application.
Essential Qualification & Experience –
- Master’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences/ MVSc or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent;
And - Scholars who are selected through:
(a) National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or GATE
OR
(b) A selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions
Desirable Experience – Experience in molecular biology (PCR, cloning, western blotting, plasmid/RNA/DNA isolation) and/or bioinformatics.

Post IV
Name of the Post – Project Associate – I

Name of the Project – To understand the role of histone H2A post-translational modification in cell proliferation, survival and tumorigenesis.
Name of the PI – Dr. Nikhil Ghate
Project Tenure – Up to 31.03.2025
Age Limit – Not more than 35 years as of the last date of application.
Essential Qualification & Experience – Master’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences / MVSc or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent.
Desirable Experience – Experience in PCR, western blotting, RNA isolation, cDNA preparation, cloning, animal cell culture (especially handling normal as well as cancer cell lines), cell fractionation, chromatin preparation, histone isolation.
Total Monthly Emoluments – Rs. 25000/- + HRA

- Caste Certificate, Latest/valid non-creamy layer certificate, if applicable.
