Walk-in-interview will be conducted on 19.05.2023 for the following vacancy under a Non-Institutional ad-hoc project to be held at ICMR-National Institute for Research in Reproductive Health, J.M. Street, Parel, Mumbai 400012 (Time: 11 am to 1 pm). Reporting time: 10:30 am.

- Candidates who wish to appear for the above-mentioned post may download the application form from the website of ICMR-NIRRCH, Mumbai. Candidates are requested to fill the application form and bring all the original certificates of educational qualification (Certificate/Statement of marks), experience certificates, etc., along with one set of xerox of the same duly self attested and a recent passport size photograph for attending walk in interview. No need to send hardcopy of application form to ICMR-NIRRCH, Mumbai by post.
- Age relaxation is admissible to SC/ST/OBC candidates in respect of posts reserved for respective category only and not for unreserved posts as per GoI rules
- Qualification/degree ought to be from a reputable Institution/University.
- Mere fulfilling the crucial qualification/experience doesn’t guarantee choice.
- Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.
- No TA/DA will be paid either for attending the interview or joining the post.
- Persons already in regular time-scale service under any Government Department / Organization are not eligible.
- If required, a written test in the subject area will be held to shortlist candidates for the interview depending upon the number of candidates.
- It may be mentioned here that incomplete applications, applications not submitted in the prescribed format and applications without supportive documents asked for shall be summarily rejected
- The Director & appointing authority has the right to accept/reject any application without assigning any reason and no correspondence in this matter will be entertained.

Stipend – Rs. 31,000/- + 24% HRA p.m.
Essential Qualification – Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science OR Graduate / Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course selected through a process described through any one of the following:
(a) Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility TestsCSIR-UGC-NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and GATE.
(b) The selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER etc.
Desirable Qualification – Experience in next-generation sequencing, PCR and other molecular biology techniques.
- Can you explain the objective of the project “Study of maternally inherited mitochondrial DNA variants in women with polycystic ovarian syndrome”? What potential impact do you foresee this research having in the field? Answer: The objective of the project is to investigate the association between maternally inherited mitochondrial DNA variants and polycystic ovarian syndrome in women. This research aims to provide insights into the genetic factors contributing to the syndrome and potentially lead to improved diagnosis and treatment options.
- How familiar are you with next-generation sequencing techniques? Can you describe your experience in using these techniques in previous research projects? Answer: Next-generation sequencing techniques have revolutionized genomic research by enabling high-throughput DNA sequencing. I have hands-on experience in performing next-generation sequencing, including library preparation, sequencing, and data analysis. In my previous research projects, I have used these techniques to analyze genomic variations and identify potential disease-associated genetic markers.
- Can you discuss your proficiency in PCR and other molecular biology techniques? Provide examples of how you have utilized these techniques in your previous work. Answer: PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) is a fundamental technique in molecular biology. I have extensive experience in designing and performing PCR experiments to amplify specific DNA sequences for further analysis. Additionally, I have utilized other molecular biology techniques such as DNA extraction, gel electrophoresis, and gene expression analysis to investigate various biological phenomena in my previous research projects.
- What strategies would you employ to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the experimental data generated during the project? Answer: To ensure the accuracy and reliability of experimental data, I would adhere to rigorous experimental protocols, including proper sample handling, use of appropriate controls, and replication of experiments. Regular calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment, as well as quality control checks, would be implemented. Additionally, I would analyze and interpret the data using robust statistical methods to minimize any potential biases or errors.
- How do you plan to stay updated with the latest advancements in the field of reproductive and molecular biology? Answer: To stay updated with the latest advancements, I regularly read scientific journals, attend conferences, and participate in workshops and seminars related to reproductive and molecular biology. I also actively engage in discussions with colleagues and collaborators to exchange knowledge and ideas. Additionally, I follow reputable research institutes and organizations, such as ICMR, to stay informed about new developments and breakthroughs in the field.
