Hey everyone, kindly have a look at the possible interview questions that can be asked for the role of Junior Research Fellow at ICMR-NIIH

  1. Can you tell us about your experience with molecular biology techniques and how it relates to the project objectives?

Answer: Yes, I have experience with molecular biology techniques such as DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, and gel electrophoresis, among others. I understand that this project involves studying the genome wide expression profiling of long non-coding RNAs and mRNAs associated with myelodysplastic syndromes pathogenesis, and I am confident that my knowledge and skills in molecular biology can contribute to this research.

  1. How do you plan to manage your time and prioritize tasks in order to meet the project timelines?

Answer: I plan to set clear goals and deadlines for each task, and regularly assess my progress in order to adjust my schedule as necessary. I also believe that good communication and collaboration with the rest of the research team will be key in ensuring that we meet the project timelines.

  1. How would you approach analyzing large datasets of gene expression data, and what tools or software would you use?

Answer: I would start by familiarizing myself with the available datasets and determining the appropriate statistical methods and visualization tools to use for analyzing the data. I have experience with various bioinformatics software such as R, Python, and GeneSpring, and I would use these tools as needed to process and analyze the gene expression data.

  1. Can you explain your understanding of Myelodysplastic Syndromes and how the project aims to contribute to the understanding of the disease?

Answer: Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS) are a group of disorders characterized by abnormal development of blood cells in the bone marrow. The project aims to study the genome-wide expression profiling of long non-coding RNAs and mRNAs associated with MDS pathogenesis. By identifying differentially expressed genes and pathways associated with MDS, this research can provide insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying the disease and potential targets for therapeutic interventions.

  1. How would you handle situations where experimental results do not match expected outcomes, and what steps would you take to troubleshoot and resolve such issues?

Answer: I understand that research can be unpredictable, and I would approach unexpected results as opportunities to learn and refine our methods. I would review our experimental protocols and procedures to identify any potential sources of error, and consult with the research team to brainstorm potential solutions. I believe that a proactive and collaborative approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving will be important in addressing unexpected results.
