Online applications are invited through the online system on the ICMR-NARI website up to 08-05-2023 for the following posts under the project entitled, “HIV Sentinel Surveillance (HSS) & Epidemiology” for Integrated Bio-Behavioral Surveillance Survey. Age Concession: Age concession to the extent of service rendered in other research projects will be admissible for experienced and skilled persons. Government servants should apply through proper channel or enclose `No Objection Certificate’ from the present office/employer along with their application. Any canvassing by on behalf of the candidates or bringing political or other influence with regards to the selection shall be considered as a disqualification. The selected candidate should be willing to join immediately. Local candidates will be given preference. Director, ICMR-NARI reserves the right to shortlist the candidates to be interviewed. The appointing authority has the right to accept/reject any application without assigning any reason(s) and no correspondence in this matter will be entertained.
Essential Qualification – Graduate in Science/Sociology/ Social work/ Anthropology/ Microbiology/ Zoology/Health Science from a recognized University with three years of work experience from a recognized institution
OR
Masters in Public Health/ Sociology/ Social work/ Anthropology/Microbiology/Zoology/ Health Science.
Desirable Qualification –
- Experience in the field of HIV/AIDS
- Exposure in field based health survey
- Experience in working with High Risk groups like FSW,MSM,IDU and H/TG
- Good computer knowledge.
- Fluency in local regional language (Marathi)
- Good English language skills
- Good people interaction and communication skills
- Willing to travel
Job Requirement –
- Coordination of project activities (Meetings, trainings, data collection and other field work) under the supervision of Project Coordinator/PI.
- Coordination with concerned authorities at state level.
- Comprehensive planning, implementation and timely completion of fieldwork which includes visiting Hot spots, Conducting interviews of HRG Group, FGDs, KII
- Any other duties that may be assigned by the nodal officer from time to time.
- Since Survey sites are in Nashik Pune, Nagpur & Mumbai selected Candidates would be posted Accordingly
Consolidated Salary – Rs. 31,000/- per month

- What made you interested in this job, and how do you think your qualifications and experiences make you suitable for the role?
Answer: I am highly interested in the position of Research Assistant as it aligns with my educational background in Microbiology. Additionally, I have 4 years of experience in conducting surveys and coordinating fieldwork activities in health research projects. I have also worked with high-risk groups such as FSW, MSM, IDU, and H/TG, which will be beneficial for this project.
- How do you plan to approach and ensure the timely completion of fieldwork for this project?
Answer: I will create a comprehensive plan that outlines the activities required for the successful implementation of the project. I will make sure to conduct regular meetings with the concerned authorities at the state level to ensure a smooth flow of activities. Additionally, I will oversee all activities related to data collection and fieldwork, which includes visiting hot spots, conducting interviews of HRG groups, FGDs, and KII.
- Can you describe your experience in using computer software for data management and analysis?
Answer: I have good knowledge and experience in using Microsoft Excel for data management and SPSS for data analysis. I am also familiar with using mobile applications for data collection and management.
- How do you plan to handle any challenges that may arise while working with high-risk groups?
Answer: I understand that working with high-risk groups comes with unique challenges, and I plan to mitigate these challenges by ensuring a non-judgmental approach while conducting interviews and providing a safe environment for the participants. I will also ensure to maintain confidentiality and provide clear explanations to participants about the study procedures and objectives.
- What are your long-term career goals, and how do you think this position will help you achieve them?
Answer: My long-term career goal is to pursue a Ph.D. in public health and continue my research in the field of infectious diseases. I believe that this position will provide me with valuable experience in conducting and coordinating research projects, which will help me develop essential skills required for my future academic pursuits. Additionally, this position will give me exposure to working with diverse populations and will enhance my knowledge of public health issues in India.
