The CSIR-Traditional Knowledge Digital Library (CSIR-TKDL) Unit is engaged in the protection and preservation of India’s vast traditional knowledge present in ancient texts by converting the information into modern languages. It aims to prevent the misappropriation of traditional knowledge like the Indian Systems of Medicine through acquisition of intellectual property rights. CSIR-TKDL Unit is a unit under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), an autonomous body with the Department of Scientific

and Industrial Research (Ministry of Science and Technology). Applications are invited from qualified candidates who meet the necessary educational and work requirements to work on projects titled, “Digitization of Indian Systems of Medicine – Ayurveda and Unani, and Yoga” (MLP0004), “Digitization of Indian Systems of Medicine – Siddha and Sowa Rigpa” (MLP0005), and “Filing of Third Party Observations and Pre-grant Oppositions based on TKDL Evidences” (MLP0008). The engagement is purely on temporary and contract basis. The engagement shall be initially up to 31 March 2024 and maximum until 31 March 2025, i.e., co-terminus with the project. The extension of tenure of any project staff beyond 31 March 2024 under projects MLP0004/ MLP0005/ MLP0008 will be subject to review by a Review Committee at the end of each year or earlier, as deemed necessary. Monthly emoluments:

For Senior Project Associate

Rs. 42,000/-+HRA

Age Limit: 40 years. The age limit is relaxable for candidates of statutory groups as per CSIR/Govt. of India instructions on the subject.

For Project Associate – I

(i) Rs. 31,000/-+HRA to scholars who are selected through (a) National Eligibility Tests – CSIRUGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or GATE or (b) A selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions
(ii) Rs. 25,000/-+HRA for others who do not fall under (i) above

Age Limit: 35 years. The above age limits are relaxable for candidates of statutory groups as per CSIR/Govt. of India instructions on the subject.

Job Requirement:

Preference will be given to those with proficiency in applicable languages, working knowledge of computers and commonly used software.

The interview of shortlisted candidates will take place in hybrid mode (offline and online) either on the day of the written test or another day, as informed after the written test. The candidates are requested to wait after their written test for results unless informed otherwise.
(i) The candidates must bring with them original certificates/ testimonials at the time of written test along with two copies of self-attested photographs and a set of self-attested copies of certificates/ testimonials in support of age, qualification, marks obtained, experience, if any, etc. The candidates must also bring a copy of their bio-data neatly typed on A4 paper.
(j) The candidates belonging to statutory categories must bring their original certificate of categories to which they belong issued by the competent authority (along with self attested copies of the same).
(k) If currently employed, then the candidate will have to furnish no-objection certificate from the current employer at the time of joining.

Note:

  1. Mere fulfilling of minimum qualification does not confer any right to a candidate for being called for an interview.
  2. Candidates who are in the final semester or whose results are awaited will not be eligible for the above-mentioned positions.
  3. Candidature will be purely provisional subject to fulfilling the eligibility criteria.
  4. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the Test/ Interview.
  5. Tenure of engagement of the Project Staff shall be co-terminus with the project. In any case, under no circumstances the tenure (inclusive of all CSIR postings) would be allowed to exceed five years duration. The performance of the Project Staff would be reviewed periodically so that one not found up to the mark, could be terminated without assigning any reason.
  6. The engagement which is on a contract basis in respect of all the above positions will confer no rights on the candidates, whatsoever, implicitly and/ or explicitly for their continuation beyond tenure/absorption/ regularization in CSIR. The contract may be terminated at any time at a notice of one month from either side or a one-month stipend in lieu thereof.
  7. The project staff would be governed by the Guidelines relating to the engagement of project staff in CSIR Projects including NMITLI projects, OLP/MLP, Contract R&D and nonCSIR funded Projects issued by CSIR vide OM No. 4/CMG/2020-TMDII dated 13 August 2020 and 09 March 2021.
  8. The posting location may change as per requirement at the time of appointment or at any time during the duration of the project.
  9. The project staff may be required to travel as per need.
  10. Reservation (SC/ST/OBC/PwD/EWS) will be applicable as per CSIR/Govt. of India instructions on the subject.
  11. Head, CSIR-TKDL Unit reserves the right to increase/ decrease the number of positions and also cancel the recruitment process for the positions mentioned above at any stage of the recruitment process.
  12. The decision of the Head of, CSIR-TKDL Unit will be final and binding for the engagement of the above positions.

Answer: As an experienced patent analyst with a master’s degree in chemical or biological sciences, I believe that I have the necessary qualifications and skills required for the job. I am also well versed in patent analytics, informatics, and PG Diploma in IPR, which will be essential in the project. Furthermore, I have excellent oral and written English communication skills, which I believe will be a significant advantage.
  2. How do you ensure that you stay up-to-date with the latest developments in patent analytics and informatics? Answer: As a patent analyst, it is essential to keep up-to-date with the latest developments in patent analytics and informatics. I read research papers, attend conferences, participate in webinars, and follow industry leaders and organizations on social media to stay current on the latest trends in the field.
  3. Can you tell us about your experience working in R&D in industrial and academic institutions or S&T organizations? Answer: In my previous role, I worked as a patent analyst for an R&D organization. I was responsible for analyzing patent data, identifying patentability issues, and creating reports on patent landscapes. I also worked with inventors and patent attorneys to draft and file patent applications. My experience in this area has honed my analytical and communication skills, which I believe will be an asset in this role.
  4. What are some of the challenges you have faced in patent analytics, and how did you overcome them? Answer: One of the significant challenges in patent analytics is managing the vast amount of data involved. To overcome this, I have developed effective data management strategies and have used automated tools to assist in data analysis. Another challenge is working with complex patent language, which I have learned to navigate by working closely with patent attorneys and inventors.
  5. How do you plan to contribute to the success of the projects MLP0004/ MLP0005/ MLP0008, and what are your long-term goals in this area? Answer: I believe that my skills and experience will enable me to make a significant contribution to the success of the projects. In the short term, I plan to work diligently and collaboratively with other team members to meet project milestones. In the long term, I hope to continue to develop my skills and expertise in patent analytics and informatics, and contribute to the advancement of the field.
