A walk-in-interview will be held for the selection of the following positions under the DBT funded research project “AIT5024EF – Advanced Level Institutional Biotech Hub at CMERTI, Jorhat Assam (Phase-II) implemented at this institute. The candidate will be selected based on their qualifications, experience and performance in the personal interview. The positions are purely on a temporary basis and for the project period only.
Post I
Name of the Post – Project Associate
No. of Posts – 01
Project Duration – 03 years
(Up to Feb 2026)Stipend / Fellowship – Rs. 31,000/- with NET/GATE and Rs. 21,000/- for
others plus admissible HRA
Essential Qualifications – 1st Class M.Sc. in any branch of Life Sciences from UGC recognized university.
Desirable Qualifications/ Experience – Candidates having specializations/working/ teaching experiences in genomics, molecular biology and bioinformatics will be preferred.
Post II
Name of the Post – Lab/ Project Assistant
No. of Posts – 01
Project Duration – 03 years (Up to Feb 2026)
Stipend / Fellowship – Rs. 20,000/- with PGDS and Rs. 15,000/- for
others plus admissible HRA
Essential Qualifications – 1st Class B.Sc. in any branch of Life Sciences from UGC recognized university.
Desirable Qualifications/ Experience – Post graduate diploma in Lab Technology/ Medical Lab Technology
How to Apply –
Interested candidates may attend the Walk-in-interview to be held at the institute on 18.04.2023 (Tuesday) from 10.00 am onwards. Age relaxation is applicable for a maximum period of 5 years in respect of SC/ST/OBC/Women and physically challenged candidates as per rules. Candidates must produce the original documents (mark sheets, certificates, publication etc) at the time of document verification/interview. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview. - What motivated you to apply for the Project Associate position?
Answer: My interest in the field of Life Sciences, particularly in genomics, molecular biology and bioinformatics, motivated me to apply for this position. I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to a DBT-funded research project and gain experience in this area.
- How do you plan to contribute to the research project?
Answer: As a Project Associate, I plan to utilize my expertise in genomics, molecular biology and bioinformatics to assist the team in achieving project objectives. I will also be open to learning and implementing new techniques as required.
- Can you describe your experience working in a research project?
Answer: During my Master’s degree, I worked on a research project where I was involved in collecting and analyzing data, performing experiments, and contributing to publications. I gained experience in working with various laboratory equipment and techniques, as well as managing data and collaborating with other team members.
- What are your long-term career goals and how does this position fit into those goals?
Answer: My long-term career goal is to become a research scientist in the field of Life Sciences. This position will provide me with the opportunity to gain valuable experience in genomics, molecular biology and bioinformatics, which will be crucial in achieving my career goals. Additionally, being a part of a DBT-funded research project will give me exposure to the latest developments in the field, which will be beneficial for my future research endeavors.
