CSIR – Central Food Technological Research Institute, Mysuru, a constituent National Laboratory of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), invites applications from eligible candidates for recruitment of 02 (Two) position(s) of PROJECT ASSOCIATE LEVEL-I tenable at the Department of Food Packaging Technology, CSIR-CFTRI, Mysuru, Karnataka.

Name of the Project – “Development of thermostable container for perishable food items” (CLP-0022)
Duration – Initially for a period of 01 Year (project duration extendable to 03 Years) or till the project
is over on a temporary contractual basisHow to Apply –
Eligible candidates may submit an online application at https://patcell.cftri.res.in along with necessary attachments of the certificates in support of date of birth, caste, qualification/ experience etc. on or before 15-04-2023 under the subject panels Chemistry, Food Science & Technology including Nutrition. Applications of those candidates, which are already active in the above subject panels for PROJECT ASSOCIATE LEVEL – I with the above eligibility requirements will be considered by default.
Applications received after the due date of 15-04-2023 will not be considered. The short-listed candidates will be informed about the date of the interview and the venue through e-mail.
CANVASSING IN ANY FORM AND / OR BRINGING IN ANY INFLUENCE, POLITICAL OR OTHERWISE WILL BE TREATED AS A DISQUALIFICATION FOR THE POST APPLIED FOR. INTERIM ENQUIRIES WILL NOT BE ATTENDED TO.
Terms & Conditions –
- Candidates should not have exceeded 35 years of age as of 15-04-2023 i.e. the last date of receiving the applications.
- The engagement of the PROJECT ASSOCIATE LEVEL – I is exclusively for the above-mentioned research work.
- The engagement will be contractual and purely on a temporary basis for a period of 08 Months or a co-terminus with the project, whichever is earlier.
- The engagement under the externally funded project does not confer any right/claim whatsoever either explicitly or implicitly on the appointee for regular appointment in CSIR-CFTRI, against any post or otherwise under any legal conditions precedent.
- The performance of the Project Staff will be reviewed every six months. In case the performance is not satisfactory, the fellowship could be terminated with one month’s notice or one month’s stipend in lieu thereof.
- No TA/DA will be given to the candidates for attending the interview.
- If already the candidate is working in CSIR-CFTRI “No objection certificate” from the PI is mandatory at the time of the interview.
Essential Qualifications: M.Sc. in Chemistry (Any discipline), Food Science Technology & B. Tech./ M. Tech. in Food Science Technology.
Job Requirements: Research & Development.
Emoluments – Rs.25,000/- (Rupees Twenty Five Thousand only) consolidated per month

Answer: I have completed my M.Sc. in Chemistry and B.Tech in Food Science Technology. During my coursework, I gained practical experience in food processing and preservation techniques. Additionally, I have completed an internship in a food packaging company, where I learned about packaging materials and their properties. - What do you think are the most significant challenges in developing thermostable containers for perishable food items?
Answer: One of the significant challenges is selecting the right materials that can withstand high temperatures and protect the food from contamination. Another challenge is ensuring that the container does not alter the taste, texture, or nutritional quality of the food. - How do you plan to approach your work in this project?
Answer: I plan to begin by conducting a thorough literature review of existing research on thermostable containers for perishable food items. I will also work closely with my team members and the project leader to identify the specific research goals and objectives. I will then develop a plan for conducting experiments and collecting data, while ensuring that we adhere to ethical and safety standards. - How do you stay updated on the latest developments in food packaging technology and research?
Answer: I attend industry conferences and workshops, read relevant scientific journals and publications, and participate in online forums and discussion groups. I also seek out opportunities to collaborate with other researchers and professionals in the field.
