- Can you tell us about your educational and research background, and how it relates to this project?
Answer: Sure, I have a Master’s degree in Biotechnology with two years of research experience. During my master’s program, I specialized in genetics and took several courses related to molecular biology and biochemistry. I also have hands-on experience in all the contemporary techniques, including DNA sequencing and PCR amplification. I believe my background and experience make me an excellent fit for this project.
- Can you discuss a specific research project you have worked on in the past and your role in that project?
Answer: During my previous research experience, I worked on a project that focused on understanding the genetic basis of a rare genetic disorder. My primary responsibility was to analyze DNA sequencing data and identify genetic variations that might be responsible for the disease. I also helped design and conduct experiments to validate our findings. Overall, it was a rewarding experience that allowed me to gain valuable research skills that I can apply to this project.
- Can you explain the significance of identifying the genetic architecture of Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy in India?
Answer: Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD) is a genetic disorder that affects the skeletal muscles. It is caused by mutations in the DUX4 gene, and its genetic architecture is complex and poorly understood. Identifying the genetic architecture of FSHD in India could help in developing better diagnostic tools and treatments for the disorder. It could also provide insight into the disease’s prevalence and the genetic variations that contribute to its severity.
- Can you describe a specific molecular biology or biochemistry technique you are proficient in and how you would apply it to this project?
Answer: One technique I am proficient in is DNA sequencing. DNA sequencing is a powerful tool that can help identify genetic variations that might be associated with FSHD. In this project, I would use DNA sequencing to analyze the genetic makeup of patients with FSHD and compare it with healthy controls. This would allow us to identify genetic variations that might be responsible for the disease and help us develop better diagnostic tools and treatments.
- Can you discuss your experience working in a team and how you would collaborate with other researchers on this project?
Answer: I have experience working in teams both in academic and industry settings. I believe that effective communication and collaboration are essential to the success of any research project. In this project, I would work closely with other researchers to design and conduct experiments, analyze data, and interpret results. I would also share my findings with the team regularly and seek their feedback to improve the project’s overall quality.
