Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), Bhubaneswar, an autonomous institute of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India invites applications from Indian Nationals to join in the following position.

Principal Investigator: Dr. P.Prasad, Scientist-E, ILS, Bhubaneswar

Projects Title: “National Wastewater Surveillance System for COVID-19”.

Project duration: The project duration is for one year with a possible extension.

Name of position:

1. Project Associate-II: Bioinformatics (01 positions)
2. Project Associate-II: Wet lab (01 positions)

Remuneration: Rs. 35,000/- per month + @16% HRA

Job Specification:

Position 1 – The person should be responsible for analyzing next-generation sequencing data.
Position 2 – To carry out nucleic acid extraction from sewage samples, library preparation, and performing next-generation sequencing.

Eligibility & Selection:

• Candidates having M.Sc. / M. Tech / M. Pharm. / M.V.Sc. or equivalent qualification in Life Sciences or allied subjects (Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/ Bioinformatics/ Computational Biology, Microbiology, etc.) with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks (relaxation will be given as per GOI guideline) with 2 years of experience in research work are eligible to apply.
• Preference will be given to national-level entrance test (NET/GATE/GPAT) qualified candidates.
• For non-NET/GATE candidates, the fellowship would be applicable as per DST guidelines.
• For bioinformatician, the knowledge of programming language, R-Bioconductor, NGS data analysis along with research experience will be preferred.

Age Limit: The candidate should be below 35 years of age as of 25.01.2023. Age relaxation will be given as per Govt. of India rules.

Position: 3. Laboratory Technician (02 positions)

Remuneration: Rs. 20,000/- per month + @16% HRA

Job Specification: Waste water sample collection, handling, processing, data management, and support to other students

Eligibility & Selection:

B.Sc. in any branch of Life Science or 3 years diploma in Engineering and technology. Candidates having working experience in biological research laboratories will be preferred. The person should be proficient in using Microsoft word and excel.
