Project Title: “SARS – CoV-2 network For Genomic Surveillance in Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa NGS-BRICS”
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The SARS-CoV-2 NGS-BRICS Consortium includes some of the leading scientific organizations in Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. The aim of the consortium is to accelerate the translation of genomic data into clinical and public health research and interventions. This is proposed to be achieved by allowing a more comprehensive and accurate detection of COVID-19 lineages from clinical and surveillance samples, using genomic technologies, and epidemiologic and bioinformatics tools to expand our knowledge of viruses and virus infections at the molecular and clinical level, allowing faster characterization of emerging lineages and assisting with the surveillance of those viruses and accelerating the development of
next generation sequencing technology for future use in diagnostic assays and tracking transmission dynamics of COVID-19 and other viruses. The overarching aim of this project is to create an integrated, cross-disciplinary, collaborative genomics research program between leading BRICS scientific organizations to advance COVID-19 knowledge relevant to public health and contribute to improvements in health outcomes.Post I
Name of the Post – Project Scientist-III

Age – not more than 45 years as of the date of application.
Consolidated Remuneration [INR] Per Month – 78000 +24% HRA
Essential Qualifications –
- Doctoral Degree in Bioinformatics/Biophysics or master’s degree in Engineering or Technology/Computer Science/Bioinformatics from a recognized University or equivalent; and
- Seven years of experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organisations and Scientific activities and services.
Desirable Qualifications – Previous experience in viral genomics experimental and computational. Previous experience (minimum 3 years) in scientific research involving sample collection, experimental and computational laboratory work and peer-reviewed publication (at least 1) in relevant fields.
Nature of Duty – Coordination of sample collection, experimental, computational laboratory work and preparation of reports and assist the PI and Co-PIs in the conduct of proposed research.

Consolidated Remuneration [INR] Per Month – 42000 +24% HRA
Essential Qualifications –
- Master’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences / M.V.Sc. or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent; and
- Four years of experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organisations and Scientific activities and services
OR
Doctoral Degree in Science / Engineering / Technology / Pharma / MD / MS from a recognized University or equivalent.
Desirable Qualifications – Previous experience (minimum 2 years) in DNA sequencing/human genetics
Nature of Duty – For sequencing required in the project.
Post III
Name of the Post – Senior Project Associate (Experimental)
No. of Posts – 01
Consolidated Remuneration [INR] Per Month – 42000 +24% HRA
Essential Qualifications –
- Master’s Degree in Bioinformatics/Biophysics/Biotechnology /Related discipline or BTech/M.Tech in Computer Science/Engg/MCA or related discipline from a recognized University or equivalent; and
- OR
Four years of experience in the analysis of next-generation sequencing data
OR
Doctoral Degree in Science / Engineering / Technology / Pharma / MD / MS from a recognized University or equivalent Strong experience in Unix command line.
Desirable Qualifications – Experience in handling virus bioinformatics data (minimum 2 years)
Nature of Duty – For bioinformatics analysis required in the project.
