Bioinformatician
Location – Decode Age Bengaluru, Karnataka, India (On-site)
About the job
We are looking for a motivated and experienced Bioinformatician to join our team
Work Location: Bangalore
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Work with Senior Bioinformaticians and Laboratory head and lead a project on Gut Microbiome Analysis
- Develop and test bioinformatics methods and protocols for Gut Microbiome data analysis
- Contribute to bioinformatics infrastructure development and deployment)
- Review scientific literature and design analyses to probe the Gut Microbiome
- Perform gut microbiome human diseases association analysis.
- Develop pipelines for pathogen identification using a metagenomics approach.
- Develop and deploy AMR data analysis pipeline
- Develop in-house microbiome databases using public domain databases and other resources
- Interpret metagenomics data from the gut microbiome to design the actionable report for clients
Desired Skills:
- Expertise in microbiology and in the analysis and interpretation of microbiome data
- Working knowledge of Python (preferred) and R to read code, write functions, and create plots
- Strong skills in statistical reasoning and data visualization
- Ability to communicate science to experts and non-experts
- Ability to collaborate with others effectively
- Expertise in Data and Database curation for Microbiome
- Expertise in bioinformatics, specifically microbial genomics and metagenomics
- Expertise in environmental and gut microbiology
Eligibility:
- B. Tech /M. Tech/M.Sc. in Bioinformatics or relevant field.
- 2 to 4 years of experience in microbiology and bioinformatics
- Work experience in non-academic research and experience using tools for data analysis in Python (e.g. NumPy, pandas, matplotlib, scikit-learn) and R will be an added advantage
- Familiarity with cloud computing services (e.g. AWS)
