This role will assist the Specifications Management teams as a Regulatory Affairs Discipline Approver located in Mexico Business Services (MBS) or Hyderabad Business Services (HBS) to ensure Formula, Ingredient and/or Packaging Specifications adhere to FDA-FSMA Regulations (Food & Drugs Administration – Food Safety Modernization Act) and PepsiCo Ingredient Standard.

Accountabilities

Functional Responsibilities

• Ensure Formula, Ingredient and/or Packaging Specifications (existing and new) adhere to FDA-FSMA Regulations (Food & Drugs Administration – Food Safety Modernization Act) and PepsiCo Ingredient Standard and provide verification of this on the SAP-PLM Specification Mgmt system. Supply relevant metrics for inclusion in progress reports.
• Validate information required by FDA-FSMA Regulations
• Learn and apply new PepsiCo Standards and Regulations to Specification Management. Identify risks brought about by these changes and mitigate against them
• Support the Tech Center Analytical Lab with its needs to adhere to FDA-FSMA Regulations (Food & Drugs Administration – Food Safety Modernization Act)
• Conduct audits on Specifications and compiles action plans based on results
• Identify potential areas for process improvements and employee upskilling to make recommendations to R&D GBS Leadership for continuous improvement
• Facilitate efficiency and accuracy of role responsibilities by maintaining and fostering relationships with R&D Project Managers, Product Development (PD), Food Safety (FS), Regulatory Affairs (RA), Quality Assurance (QA), Procurement, Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA), Packaging Development Engineers, other spec GBS teams and external suppliers
• Ensure all requests are processed, documented, and delivered within relevant defined SLAs (Service Level Agreements)
• Assess, respond, and escalate emerging business critical issues to avoid material supply shortages, outages and production delays

Qualifications/Requirements

Key Skills/Experience Required

• Professional work experience (<4yrs) gained in Food Regulatory Affairs or Food Safety-related roles
• Highly proficient in interpreting and assessing complex Regulatory and Legal technical information and issues and seek alignment toward workable solutions
• Highly proficient in reviewing food analytical testing methods
• Evidence of leadership skills when engaging with Senior Stakeholders and/or experience leading small teams
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to rapidly learn computer applications/programs & navigate systems
• Collaborative skills and strong interest in working with others across time zones; Ability to build relationships and work closely with both internal and external partners
• Good communication skills – oral and written (e.g. communication on telephone, external and internal to PepsiCo, managing with other support group functions, etc.)
• Ability to manage time effectively across multiple priorities and projects requiring a high degree of organizational and communication skills to ensure requests are delivered in a timely manner
• Exceptional data organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy
• Self-motivated & demonstrated ability to take initiative on projects
• 90% Fluency, verbal and written in English (able to project manage English) and Spanish (MBS)
• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, Food Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemical Engineering or Chemical Engineering or equivalent relevant experience required.

Differentiating Competencies Required

• Prior experience working in a large global Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) company, with an understanding of the CPG performance outputs and measures preferred.
