The Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun invites applications from Indian nationals for
a walk-in-interview to recruit research personnel for the project entitled “Influence
of tectonic shift (uplift and subsidence) on the carbon stock dynamics of mangrove forests of Andaman Islands” purely on a contractual basis. Details of the
positions along with essential and desirable qualifications and a brief description of work
are given below –

For Post I
Name of the Post – Senior Project Associate
No. of Posts – 01
Duration – 06 Months
Age limit – 40 years (Age relaxations as per the GoI norms)
For Post II
Name of the Post – Project Assistant
No. of Posts – 01
Duration – 06 Months
Age limit – 50 years
General Terms & Conditions –
- A single PDF file containing a one-page write up on the “statement of interest” and duly signed application in the prescribed format along with all the supporting documents
(eg. certificates of educational qualification, NET/GATE certificate (if any), extracurricular activity, community certificate (if reserved category) etc.) should be e-mailed to [email protected] on or before 09 May 2022. - Candidates must clearly mention in their e-mail the preferred mode of interview (online or interview in person).
- The shortlisted candidates will be informed about the interview on 10 May 2022. The interview will take place on 12 May 2022 either on-line interview or interview in person depending on the preference given by the candidates. Candidates preferred to appear for an interview in person must report at the WII, Dehradun on 12 May 2022 at 9.30 hrs with their filled-in application along with original documents/certificates for verification.
- At the time of verification of original documents or even after selection, if it is found
that an attempt has been made by the applicant to willfully conceal, misrepresent or canvass the facts, such applicant will not be considered for selection and due action will be taken. - The Institute will not provide any accommodation and TA/DA for candidates appearing for the personal interview.

- The Director WII reserves the right to reject any candidature in view of incomplete
information provided by the candidate or for any other reason thereof.
For Post I
Emoluments – Rs. 42,000 plus 16 percent HRA
Essential Qualification (EQ) –
- PhD or First Class Master’s degree in Botany/Environmental Science/Wildlife Science/ Marine Biology/Life sciences or allied disciplines.
- Minimum Four-year experience of field research on aquatic or coastal or inter-tidal ecology.
Desirable Qualification (DQ) –
- Prior experience working in mangrove ecosystems.
- Knowledge of Data Analysis in R statistics.
- Excellent skills in scientific communication proven by publication(s) in a peer-reviewed journal.
- Enthusiasm to work in the remote islands of Andaman & Nicobar.
Work description
- Work involves extensive travel and data collection in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands on the response of vegetation and soil in the mangrove ecosystem to a gradient of sea-level
change induced by tectonic uplift and subsidence. - The candidate will co-ordinate the research team to conduct field research, data collection, data analysis and preparation of publications and reports
- Candidate will have to be physically fit and mentally prepared to work in the intertidal mudflats of remote islands with limited logistics.
For Post II
Emoluments – Rs. 20,000 plus 16 percent HRA
Essential Qualification (EQ) –
- First Class Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Botany/Environmental Science/Wildlife Science/ Marine Biology/Life sciences or allied disciplines.
Desirable Qualification (DQ) –
- Prior experience working in mangrove ecosystems.
- Knowledge of collection and processing of soil samples.
- Skills in scientific communication proven by publication(s) in a peer-reviewed journal.
- Enthusiasm to work in the remote islands of Andaman & Nicobar.
Work description
- Work involves extensive travel and data collection in the Andaman & Nicobar islands on mangrove vegetation.
- The candidate will conduct field research, data collection, data analysis and preparation of scientific papers.
- The candidate will have to be physically fit and mentally prepared to work in the inter-tidal mudflats of remote islands with limited logistics.
