Gujarat Biotechnology University (GBU) is a new postgraduate university established by the Gujarat Biotechnology University Act 2018. GBU invites applications for the post of Junior Research Fellow (Antimicrobial Resistance Research Project) & JRF/Project Assistant (Biohydrogen Research Project). GBU aims to launch MSc by Research and PhD programmes from June 2022.
Post I
Name of the Post – Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

Name of the project – “Tracking the prevalence of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in the urban clusters of Narmada River, Gujarat
Name of the PI – Dr. Chirayu Desai
Fellowship Duration – Till the end of the project: 3 years (subject to satisfactory performance
)Fellowship – As per GSBTM, DST, GOG guidelines
Minimum Qualifications – M.Sc. (Biotechnology/Microbiology/Biochemistry) With a minimum of 55% marks.
Desired Qualifications –
- CSIR-UGC-NET/DBT-JRF/ICMR-JRF/GATE qualified candidates will be preferred.
- Candidates having experience in handling antibiotic-resistant bacteria, microbial isolation, metagenomics, molecular biology techniques and detection of environmental contaminants in water and sediments through LC-MS/GC-MS are encouraged to apply.
- Candidates will be required to travel for onsite sample collection and networking with other institutions.
- Candidates must have proficiency in scientific writing.

Name of the project – “Hydrogen production by recombinant E. coli from crude glycerol and lignocellulosic biomass”
Name of the PI – Dr. Sudheer DVN Pamidimarri
Fellowship Duration – Till the end of the project [Aug, 2024] (subject to satisfactory performance)
Fellowship – As per GSBTM, DST, GOG guidelines
Minimum Qualifications – M.Sc. (Biotechnology/Microbiology/Biochemistry) With a minimum of 55% marks.
Desired Qualifications –
- NET/DBT-JRF/ICMR-JRF/GATE qualified candidates will be preferred.
- Candidates having experience in molecular biology and microbiology techniques are encouraged to apply.
- Candidates must have proficiency in scientific writing.
Work – The selected candidate is expected to work in metabolic engineering, genome editing/gene knockout and metabolomic analysis via GC, GCMS and LC-MS.
