Positions Available

Genetic Services Unit (GSU) has been jointly established in 2016 by the National Institute of Biomedical Genomics (NIBMG), Kalyani, Department of Biotechnology, Government of India & Government of West Bengal. The objective of GSU is to provide a reliable diagnosis for various genetic defects that manifest either at birth or later in life.

We are looking for motivated individuals interested in a career in molecular diagnostics for the positions listed below. Each position is contractual, with an initial appointment period of one year, which may be extended depending on performance and availability of funds.

Consolidated Remuneration [INR] per month – 20000/- plus 24 percent HRA

Essential Qualifications –

1. At least a graduate degree (B.Sc./B.Tech.) in Bioinformatics.
2. Working experience of at least one year in DNA sequencing and other PCR based techniques and data analysis.

Desirable Qualifications –

1. Experience in genetic and genomic data analysis.
2. Good communication skills in Bengali, Hindi, and English.
3. Experience in handling clinical samples and data analysis.

Nature of Duty –

1. Analyses of genetic and genomic data.
2. Maintenance of referral database and laboratory inventory.
3. Genetic testing of clinical samples.
4. Handling of clinical samples.
