Dr. Balakrishna Pisupati

Dr. Balakrishna Pisupati is an internationally renowned conservation and development specialist with close to three decades of experience working at national, regional and international levels, holding positions such as Vice-Chancellor, Transdisciplinary University (TDU, India), Chief of Biodiversity, Land Law and Governance programs at United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP, Kenya), Senior Policy Fellow at Fridtjof Nansen Institute (FNI, Norway), Chairman, National Biodiversity Authority-Government of India (NBA, India), Coordinator, Biodiplomacy Programme at United Nations University (UNU-IAS, Japan), Head, Regional Biodiversity Programme for Asia at the World Conservation Union (IUCN, Sri Lanka), Head, Biodiversity, and Biotechnology program at the M S Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF, India).

He is currently the Regional Vice-Chair for South and Southeast Asia at IUCN Commission on Education and Communication, Global Chair for IUCN Specialist Group on Traditional Knowledge and Community Engagement, and the Chairperson of FLEDGE, an international think-tank. He has advised more than 30 countries on conservation and development policy and served as an advisor to international bodies such as China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development, China, the Global Environment Facility (GEF), World Bank, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and others.

Dr. Amit Agarwal

Dr. Amit Agarwal is the Director of Natural Remedies. He obtained his master’s degree in Pharmacology from the University of Strathclyde, UK, and holds a Ph.D. in Pharmacology. He has over 29 years of experience in research and development
of natural products.

He has published about 110 research papers, in various peer-reviewed, national and international journals, apart from 94 abstracts in various proceedings and has contributed to 8 books. He has 6 granted patents, which are active, to his credit.

He is a member of the Herbal Products and Crude Drugs Committee of the Indian
Pharmacopoeia Commission, DBT task force on medicinal plants, member of Project Screening Committee of National Medicinal Plants Board, member of the expert panel of USP for Herbal Medicines Compendium and serves many other Government departments as a resource person.


Mr. Narayan Suresh

After a 30-year stint as a professional editor and journalist with Times of India, Dataquest, DQ Week, MIT’s Technology Review in India, BioSpectrum India and BioSpectrum Asia, Mr Narayanan Suresh formally joined the Association of Biotechnology Led Enterprises (ABLE) in 2016 as its Chief Operating Officer (COO). He is based in Bangalore. The association was founded in 2003 to represent the interests of the fast-growing biotechnology industry. Mr Suresh has been tracking the Biotech Industry for several years and works very closely with leaders in various state governments and DBT / BIRAC and other ministries and organizations highlighting the achievements, needs, and opportunities of the sector.
