II. ELIGIBILITY

PG PROGRAMMES (ENTRANCE)

PG Course Name	Eligibility (UG Course Completed in)
M.Sc. Genomics	A Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Life Sciences (Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Genetics or equivalent), Physical and Chemical Sciences (Physics and Chemistry), Medicine, Veterinary and Agriculture from any recognized Indian or Foreign University are eligible to apply. Students with B.Tech. Degrees in Biotechnology, Computer Science, Information Technology and Bioinformatics with Biology at +2 level are also eligible. Note: A minimum of 40% seats will be allocated to candidates from outside Tamilnadu State (Residence and Institution).
M.Sc. Microbiology	A Bachelor’s degree in science programmes where Biological Sciences-Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Genetics, etc. is either a Major or an Ancillary subject. Students from professional programmes such as B.Pharm., B.Sc. (Agriculture) and related subjects from a recognized Indian or Foreign University are also eligible.
M.Sc. Biochemistry	B.Sc. Degree with Biochemistry/Nutrition and Dietetics/Microbiology/Biology/ Botany/Zoology/Chemistry/Physics/Agriculture as major subjects.
M.Sc. Biotechnology	Bachelor’s Degree in any relevant areas of Life Sciences/Zoology/Botany/Microbiology/ Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/Chemical Science (allied with any Biology subject/ B.Tech, Bio-tech with minimum of 55% of marks in UG Degree
M.Sc. Marine Biology	B.Sc in any branch of Life Sciences (Biology/Biochemistry/Botany/Zoology/ Marine Biology/ Microbiology/Biotechnology or equivalent of a recognized Indian or Foreign University). Candidates should have scored a minimum of 55% marks in the subject (Part III) and 50% marks for SC&ST Categories.
M.Sc. Microbial Gene Technology	A Candidate who has secured 50% marks or above in part III of any degree in Science courses where Biological Sciences (Botany, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Genetics, Zoology etc.,) is either a major or an ancillary subject. Students from professional Programmes such as B.Pharm., B.Sc., Agriculture and related subjects from a recognized Indian or Foreign University are also eligible.
M.Sc. Biomedical Sciences	A Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Life Sciences (Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Genetics or Equivalent, Physical and Chemical Sciences (Physics and Chemistry), Medicine, Veterinary and Agriculture from any recognized Indian or Foreign University. Students with B.Tech., Degrees in Biotechnology, Computer Science, Information Technology and Bioinformatics with Biology at +2 level are also eligible.
M.Sc. Life Science	B.Sc. (Three years) Degree after 10 + 2 + 3 with Major in any of the life sciences or related science discipline/Botany / Zoology/ Microbiology/ Biotechnology.
M.Sc. Computational Biology	B.Sc. in any branch of Life Sciences (Biology/Biochemistry/Botany/Zoology/Marine Biology/Microbiology/Biotechnology or equivalent of a recognized Indian or Foreign University )
Post Graduate Diploma in Immuno–Techniques (1 year)	A pass in B.Sc Zoology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, B.Tech Medical Lab Technology, B.E. (Biomedical Engineering), MBBS, BDS.

 

III. PROGRAMME REQUIREMENTS

1. Candidates should have studied under 10+2+3 pattern or its equivalent.
2. Candidates who are undergoing the VI Semester/III year (Non- Semester) of the U.G.
   programme are eligible to apply for the P.G. Programme.

IV. PROCEDURE FOR SUBMITTING ONLINE/OFFLINE APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION

1. Applicants are requested to read carefully the rules of eligibility and other instructions given in the prospectus.
2. Applicants who are willing to apply for more than one programme may apply in a single
   application through online mode. However, they have to apply separately for each
   programme in the offline mode.
3. Fees
   

   Registration Fee	(This amount should be paid for each PG programme)	Rs.200/-
   Entrance Exam Fee	For Entrance based P.G Programme only	Rs.400/-

   The applicant has to pay the Registration Fee of Rs.200/- for every PG Programme, he/she applies. If the applicant applies for PG Programme (Entrance) then the applicant has to pay the Entrance Exam Fee of Rs.400/- along with the Registration fee. SC/ST students are exempted from paying the registration and entrance examination fees for one program. If they want to apply for more programs, then they have to pay the regular fees.

V. SELECTION PROCEDURE

1. For the PG Programmes (Entrance based) the selection of the candidate is based on the marks in the Entrance Examination conducted by Madurai Kamaraj University and UG marks.
2. For the PG Programmes (Non-Entrance) the selection of the candidate is based on the UG marks obtained up to V Semester/ II year (Non-Semester) of the PG programmes even though the candidate has already passed the degree.
3. For the MBA Residential program, there will be interview and group discussion following
   the entrance examination.

(For M.P.Ed. Programme in addition to the Entrance Examination, Practical
Examination and Viva-voce will be conducted on the same day of the Entrance Test. For Practical Examination, candidates should report in sports uniform, shoes and other personal sports kits like Hockey stick, Racquets etc. The test process is likely to be held the whole day.)

VIII. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

1. No candidate can undergo more than one programme (full-time) at a time during the
   academic year and no one can take more than one examination at the same time.
2. In all communications addressed to the University the programme applied for and the
   registration number should be specified.
3. The University reserves the right to suspend any programme or cancel any Test / Test
   Centres without any reason.
4. The University will not be held responsible for any delay or loss in postal and any other modes of transit.
5. The decision of the University shall be final in all cases of admission.
6. The selected candidate should meet the Prof. & Head of the Department concerned on or
   before the stipulated date and time and submit the following original certificates along
   with Xerox copies of the certificates(Self Attested) only to the Head of the Department at
   the time of admission for the purpose of verification.

IX. SCHOLARSHIPS

1. The eligible candidates belonging to backward class and Most Backward class can
   apply for scholarship to the Government of Tamilnadu.
2. The eligible candidates belonging to SC/ST communities can apply for scholarships
   to the Government of Tamilnadu and the Government of India.
3. The eligible visually challenged candidates can apply for scholarship to the Government of Tamilnadu.
