Position Summary:
This is a full-time scientist position in the lab with responsibility for setting up, running and monitoring cell culture experiments and data analysis along with regular daily lab duties.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assists in development of scalable processes such as mammalian cell culture development.
- Maintenance of cell lines and seed train.
- Day-to-day operation of Advanced Micro scale (AMBR, 15mL) and bench-scale (5 & 10 L) bioreactors, including basic operations like sterilization and assembly of bioreactors, calibration of probes and pumps, sampling.
- Set-up and monitor of shake flask culture experiments.
- Logging laboratory data (online, offline and other analytical data) into data management system and summarizing data in Excel spreadsheets, Word and other tracking softwares.
Supports development of technical solutions and exchange technical information with team members for troubleshooting. - Performs comprehensive data analysis of process statistics, identify process deviations, and prepare technical reports.
- Performs daily maintenance duties involving preparation of media and stock solutions, research-cell-banks, sterilization, and bioreactor maintenance.
- Performs other laboratory housekeeping assignments related to the functioning of the lab.
Qualification requirements:
- Masters’ degree (M.Sc. /M. Tech./ M.E.) degree or B. Tech/ B.E. degree in Biology, Chemical Engineering, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biochemical Engineering or other related disciplines of engineering or life sciences.
- Masters with at least 1+ or Bachelors with at least 2+ years of relevant industry experience in mammalian cell culture process development. More experience in the field is preferable.
- Technical knowledge in cell culture process development and bioreactor operations.
Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities:
- Expertise in the use of high throughput micro bioreactor systems (AMBR) for process optimization is beneficial.
- The candidate must have strong analytical and problem solving skills to optimize and troubleshoot upstream processes.
- Data analysis with statistical tools is plus.
- Experience in trouble-shooting of different bioreactor control systems, cell counters and metabolite analyzers.
- Must have high attention to detail, excellent communication skills (both oral and written), good organizational skills and multitasking abilities, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
