National Institute of Malaria Research (NIMR) was established in 1977 as ‘Malaria Research Centre’, which was renamed as ‘National Institute of Malaria Research’ in November 2005. NIMR is one of the institutes of the Indian Council of Medical Research (an autonomous body under Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India).
Applications are invited for the following posts of Scientist D and Scientist C:
Name of the post: Scientist-D
No. of post: Two
Pay Scale: Rs. 15600-39100 + Rs. 7600 Grade Pay (Pay Band-3) and other allowances as per rules at the ICMR, Delhi
Eligibility:
A. Essential:
First class Master’s degree in life or biological sciences (Zoology, Biology, Applied Biology, Biotechnology, Medical Entomology etc.) from a recognized university. OR
Second class M.Sc. + Ph.D. degree in any of the above subjects of the life or biological sciences from a recognized University.
Eight years R&D or teaching experience in vector biology and control in malaria and other vector borne diseases from a recognized Institute/University after obtaining one of the above degrees
B. Desirable:
For Post-I:
- Doctorate degree with demonstrated research work in vector biology and control in
malaria and other Vector Borne Diseases from recognized university. OR - Additional post doctoral research/teaching experience in Field Entomology,
Bioecology of the vectors, Insecticide resistance and vector control with
publication in high impact factor journals. Demonstrated research capabilities and competency as an independent investigator. Knowledge of computer application.
For Post-II:
- Doctorate degree with demonstrated research work in molecular entomology, vector
biology and control in malaria and other Vector Borne Diseases from recognized
university. - Additional post doctoral research/teaching experience in vector parasite interaction biology, Bioecology of the vectors and vector control with publication in high impact factor journals. Demonstrated research capabilities and competency as an independent investigator. Knowledge of computer application

Pay Scale: Rs. 15600-39100 + Rs. 6600 Grade Pay (Pay Band-3) and other allowances as per rules at the ICMR’s National Institute of Malaria Research, Delhi
Eligibility:
A. Essential:
- First Class Master’s degree in Biophysics, Molecular Biology, Zoology, Biochemistry,
Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Physiology, Mathematics, Statistics, Geostatistics and
other related subjects in Life or Physical Science from a recognized University OR - Second Class M.Sc + Ph.D degree in Biophysics, Molecular Biology, Zoology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Physiology, Mathematics, Statistics or Geo statistics and other related subjects in Life or Physical Science from a recognized University.
- Four years R&D teaching experience in Malaria and other Vector Borne Diseases from a recognized Institute/ University after obtaining one of the above degrees
B. Desirable:
- Doctorate degree in the field of Malaria or other vector borne diseases.
- Additional Post Doctoral research/teaching experience from recognized institute in
Bioinformatics, related Computer Applications. - Knowledge of Computer Applications, Data management, M. Tech or M.C.A.
- Experience in use of modern tools such as GPS, GIS & development of Mobile
application for health research.
Job Requirement:
To plan, formulate and carry out research work on malaria and other vector borne
diseases, to supervise research work and carry out any other work assigned by the
director.
Age Limit: 45 years for Scientist D and 40 years for Scientist C. (Relaxable up to 5 years for Government servants and SC/ST/OBC candidates)
General Information:
- Ph.D in the relevant subject shall be treated equivalent to three years experience.
- Candidates with Ph.D. degree will be preferred for direct recruitment.
- If no suitable candidate is found the post can be filled at one level below
- Since it is not possible to call all the eligible candidates for the interview/personal
discussion, the applicants will be short-listed for this purpose. The decision of the
Director General, ICMR will be final in this regard. - Candidates called for interview will be paid a 2nd class rail fare by the shortest route on
production of documents. - Any canvassing by or on behalf of the candidates or to bring political or other outside
influence with regard to selection/recruitment shall be treated as disqualification. - This post is with all India transfer liability under the Council.
- Experienced and meritorious candidates may be granted higher pay scale on
recommendation of the Selection Committee.

Note:
